It was one of those mornings in South Dakota. There was sun! There were blue skies! There was NO WIND! Okay, maybe a breeze (but on a comparative basis...) It was the perfect morning for a bike on my favorite path--with my favorite girl. After a short stop to feed the cat (that would be Mac, and even if you're not a cat person, you would love Mac!) we headed to the bike path. Gorgeous. If you haven't taken the east route on the path, you have to try it. The corn is coming. The wildlife greets us, and it is the quickest way to I-Hop on bike! Now, I speak of Decadance (and the capital D is not a mistake!) I had the cinnamon roll pancakes. Four of them on a plate, separated by layers of cinnamon sugar and topped with a cream cheese icing and enough whipped cream to make my cardiologist shudder! They truly tasted like a cinnamon roll--just a little hotter and gooier! Then it was home to atone for the sins of the flesh (oops, I mean the sins of the batter) and a start to landscaping the north garden. Well, one can only do so much of a full stomach, right? So...time to think and time to write. Somehow I have managed to retain the wide-eyed wonder of a child. I am able to enjoy with abandon, to giggle with ease, and to totally lose myself in the moment. Perhaps it is because while I have aged, I have refused to grow up! Cath says she doesn't worry about me entering my second childhood, but she's not looking forward to puberty! Can't blame her. Have an amazing week and always know that you are loved!

day the first
So, I'm gardening. The sun is bright. The sky is clear. The breeze is welcomed. I am convinced that god in his/her infinite wisdom loves a garden. When seeing the newly planted items, he/she must think that if a little green is good (as in beets, onions, beans, etc.,) then a lot of green must be better, so the void is filled! That must make it sacriligious to remove the "fill", right? That's my new belief and I'm sticking to it! So, with this extra time on my hands, I decide to fulfill a goal set at our recent Chicago meeting...why not create a blog? (Does that make this devinely inspired? Hmmmm.) Anyhow, I have always wanted a forum in which to express my deepest ponderings, my ambitions, my dreams...sorta makes you want to hit that close button and run, doesn't it? Well, for the not-so-faint-at heart, welcome! Hopefully you find a little humor, a little wisdom, and perhaps a touch of inspiration. You will always find affirmation! I do believe we are put here to change the world, so since this began with a religious connotation, what better way to end my first post than with a prayer. It is the way I end my speeches. It is the way I start my day. May you find in it the strength to make a difference!
God has given me this day to use as I wish. I can waste it or use it for good. What I do today is very important because I am exchanging a day of my life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever, leaving something in its place. May god who gave me this day also give me the wisdom to know how to use it: to be directed to add good to it, not evil. May the life that he gave me be well spent for this day!
Go change the world for the better, and know you are loved!
